HEATH EARN COMFORTABLE 3 POINTS

Heath continued their promotion bid with a comfortable win, although they will be disappointed that the victory was not as emphatic as it should have been. In their last home game of this season Heath were always in control although their play lacked tempo and wasn't as fluent as normal, and certainly wasn't as good as when they won the Cup Final on Friday.

From the start Heath attacked and after a couple of chances had been missed they took the lead when Pottage tried to clear from a corner and the ball rebounded off another defender and into the net to give Heath the lead after 5 minutes. After 20 minutes the second goal was scored by Kevin Cooper from the spot following a handball, and it appeared that Heath would rattle in a load more goals. Unfortunately they looked disjointed and were unable to make any other efforts count in the first half.

After Matty Beard's half time pep talk Heath got better as they upped their game, and consistently created chances, none of which were converted, until Dean Pitcher knocked a chance in from inside the six yard box with 20 minutes left. Five minutes later Tommy Howes used his strength and prowess in the air to meet a Mark Beard corner and power it into the net. The same move five minutes later nearly produced the same result but this time the Pottage keeper produced a superb save to keep the ball out.

Heath spent the last fifteen minutes camped in the Pottage half creating and missing chances and at the end of the game were disappointed that the score was only four nil – but importantly three more valuable points had been safely gathered. Heath remain second in the table, with three games left, all of which they need to win to finish the season in style.

This week Heath are away at Broadbridge Heath in the League with a 3.00pm kick off.
